SAN JOSE (BCN)

Classrooms in the eastern area of San Jose were closed Wednesday due to impacts of the Public Safety Power Shutoff by PG&E.

All Alum Rock Union School District schools closed Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday and any days following until power is restored, according to the school district.

The district said on its website that more updated information will follow on or before 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Evergreen Valley College campus is also closed Wednesday because of the power shutoff.

The shutdown has only forced the closure of Evergreen Valley College, according to the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District. San Jose City College, the district's office and the SJECCD Milpitas extension remain open.

Information on other impacts in San Jose from the shutoff can be found at http://www.sanjoseca.gov/index.aspx?NID=6458.
